About Andy Bending Garden Design
Andy Bending has been creating gardens since the early 2000s. Mainly in the UK, but has worked on gardens in Hawaii, Florida, north-east Brazil and New South Wales in Australia.
He has studied garden and planting design with Caroline Tatham at Cotswold Gardening School and with David Stevens. Andy also studied permaculture in the UK with Sarah Pugh and spent 3 months working alongside Tom Kendall in Queensland, Australia, learning practical permaculture. He has a BSc (Hons) in Landscape Management from the University of Reading.
In 2012, after returning from a trip to Australia where he learnt about permaculture and was inspired by Heather Flores' movement - Food Not Lawns, Andy set up Bristol Organic Gardening. With a chemical-free gardening ethos at its core, he created the Homegrown project, creating edible gardens for self-sufficiency and self-reliance.
Andy Bending is a Pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers and is working towards full membership.
In 2018, Andy took a new direction and designed and created a show garden for the Green Living Spaces at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival. The garden won a RHS Silver-Gilt medal and People's Choice award. The garden featured artwork by Bristol based artist Steph Renshaw.
